Blockbuster Vs. Low Budget Music Videos

Blockbuster Video: 'Thriller' -Michael Jackson
When thinking of a blockbuster music video one of the first artists that came into mind was Michael Jackson. He is a huge worldwide phenomenon therefore the video I looked at was his famous hit ‘Thriller’. It is based on Michael being on a date whereby they get attacked by Zombies. He transforms into a zombie in one of the scenes and we see the famous ‘Thriller’ dance being performed with fellow dancers/zombies.

Record Label

The budget of the film was costly of around $1, 100, 00 and the distribution company behind it was ‘Epic Records’.
'Epic Records' is an American record label owned by Sony Music Entertainment. Though it was originally conceived as a jazz imprint, it has since expanded to represent various genres.
By the end of the 1960s, Epic earned its first gold records and had evolved into a formidable hit-making force in rock and roll, R&B and country music. Among its many acts, it included Roy Hamilton, Bobby Vinton, The Dave Clark Five, The Hollies, Tammy Wynette, Donovan, The Yardbirds, Lulu, July and Jeff Beck. More recently, other successful acts on the label include Jennifer Lopez, The Fray, Jessica Simpson, Shakira, Korn, Fiona Apple, Ozzy Osbourne, Nate McDonald, Chevelle, and Rage Against the Machine.
The Director of the video was John David Landis (born August 3, 1950) who is an American film director, screenwriter, actor, and producer. He is known for his comedies, his horror films, and his music videos with singer Michael Jackson.

Low Budget Video: 'Untouched' -The Veronicas

The girls say the song is about a long distance relationship and having to interact over the technology of today, talking to someone on the phone, seeing them on video chat etc, but not being able to physically touch them. The song is noticed for becoming the band's biggest hit in the United States, reaching the top twenty on the Hot 100. This single was also a breakthrough in the United Kingdom in 2009.
